Comments:

Very high energy show. Beautiful transitions between "Playin>Crazy Fingers>Uncle Johns." One of the best versions of "Playin in the Band" of the later years.

good show, great venue but not as much fun as '88.

phil starts talking about the "columbians" in Tom Thumb Blues which made bob shrug laugh and cover his face with his hands.

jerry was practically dancing in front of his mike. He was swaying back and forth. He was in love with this night! :)

Clarence Clemmons sits in throughout the second set and really juices Jerry up. Great start to a NYE run - dare I say the best of the four shows. Loved the way Jerry, then Bobby, then Brent each take a song to start the show; it was like they were each taking turns welcoming us into this annual gathering of the tribes -we even got Phil into the act later on (back when getting him to sing was still a welcome event). Having missed out on all the fireworks from the Fall tour, it was great to see and hear the new sounds brought to old workhorses like Bird Song and Playin. Too bad Jerry blows it at the end of AM Dew; it's really quite painful to listen to now, but kudos I guess for the effort.

Phil sings Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, and it's good!

This is a fine show for the close out of '89. With the exception of the aforementioned screwed Dew, the whole show was just Good vibes flowing through every tune. You could tell the dew was gonna be rough from the first verse. Guess they were all just a little too jived up from the rest of the show. But all is forgiven with that Dual encore. The JBG just rocks your soul so the BMR to sing it home. This show musta been one hell of a party for anyone in attendance.
