weird venue, tons of cops, over 800 arrests, cops undercover in golf carts everywhere hauling off anyone they could for anything they could. show reflected that bad vibe a bit. half step never got to "across the rio grandio" and that was weird. JBG was a good ending though, and the second set made it only becuase it had a help>slip>frank in it, otherwise it was pretty flat. I had a bad trip in the campground that night, but I met some cool people that talked me in to going to miami, and i am so glad i did, thank you people! peace.

yeah this was a very weak show, both musically and the scene. My friends and I got picked up and brought to the station for smoking a joint afterwards in the parking lot. We were like 17.

The only less-than-stellar show I saw (out of 32). Got lost in Charlotte (don't ask), got the last parking spot, nosebleed seats for my bud with a fully-casted broken leg, cops, fights, lousy sound, lousy Jerry guitar (still miss him though), topped off with the car dying in the middle of the single-lane exit out of the parking lot and having to spend another day in Charlotte without any money to buy a ticket for the second show! Still better than sitting at home in the dark.

Drove out from California only to have my truck broken into the first night at the hotel. I was so excited to meet up with my girlfriend I left the envelope with the tickets on the front seat. The next morning when I came down to my truck and saw the mess I freaked. As I walked up to the open door the first thing I saw was the envelope with the tickets still in it. Fuck the change in the ash tray.

My first show.

BAAAAD Scene in Charlotte. Not long after Hurrican Hugo came through and the city was trying to get as much money as they could by arresting as many heads as possible. We got busted (risk we chose to take) but I saw people getting arrested for public profanity (using f-word where cop could hear it) and anything they could think of. I guess they figured 'Heads would pay the fine to get free rather than fight it out in court

I grew up in the Charlotte area. The cops always overreacted to The Dead. They knew Dead Heads were easy targets, and it made the city think they (the cops)were were doing a great job of keeping the city safe, when the public could read about mass arrests at a rock concert. Even the venue manager said the Dead crowd was unusually well behaved compared to other bands' fans, and that the venue had more problems with the crowds at sporting events than at Dead shows. But the cops still played their game because lots of busts made them look good.
