The Help->Slip->Franklin's to end the 1st set was a shock. It was great to hear this after its' reappearance in Hampton. Sadly, this was the night in which Adam Katz died in the parking lot.

brents we can run was good and fun but thankfully it was cut from the line up not shortly after this show.

the mama tried mexicali was hot and the help slip franklins was indeed sweeet.

second set was a patchwork imo...but the scarlet truckin was great and the china doll just seemed to appear from a space that didnt wanna die out. very nice.

The band wanted to watch the world seris that night, very short show.

My first show. Only show we made it onto the floor, right near the taper section. I remember my friend being let down with a "Touch" opener ("too commercial!") . But he and everyone else went totally nuts when "Help On .." began. I really enjoyed "Man Smart.." The "Space" was so intense on the floor. We ran into some friends from camp in the parking lot. Learned about the death of Adam the next day.

Except for the 10/16 second set, the H>S>F surprise at the close of the first was the peak moment of this run.

this was a very good show. FOTD was beautiful with brent's pan flute midi exploding and then jerry's solo was soaring in the stratosphere. find a good audience recording and check that one out.
also of course we all went batshit crazy when the help>slip>franklin broke out for the 2nd time since 1985. set two was excellent all the way through. even though jerry flubbed the china doll lyrics i remember it being absolutely spell binding.
do you all remember the tunnel doors being open and light pouring into the arena during the black muddy encore? i always wonder if it had anything to do with adam katz' death.
