Comments:

My first show. Highlight being not the music (Jerry was on his way to coma-land, I later realized) but finding two backstage passes on the sidewalk as my buddy and I waited outside the Fox. Talked a good bit to Phil, Mickey, and Bill and said "hello" to Jerry and Bob before the show. I really miss Jerry. And Pigpen. And Brent. And Keith....
And Bruce.

I just got the download of this, and Jerry gives a tour de force on Sugaree to kick it off. It reminds me of some bad-ass basketball team that just comes out and rattles off a polished 18-2 run to start the game. However, I've gotta say that even though I'm from Kansas City, and even though I love the KC Royals and was completely ecstatic in '85 when they won the World Series, and even though I love the Dead, none of it adds up to allow me to enjoy their version of "Kansas City". Weir sounds like he is trying to shake off a lobotomy by drinking a 12 pack and singing KC on the karaoke. Oh well, it's still pretty cool they played this the day after the '85 Series concluded.
