I can't believe Jerry was so smacked in '85 that he was freebasing coc in his car, OUTSIDE Goldengate park. Come on man, you shoulda gone to your house. But, then again, if he hadn't gotten caught, '86 mighta meant death instead of a coma. This show is really good, especially the jam towards the end of GDRFB. Jerry sounds focused and is rippin tiger apart. '84 was a good year, but very strange vibe wise. I can hear, in hindsight, that jerry was seriously spiraling out of control. his playing was just as good, but his heart wasn't in it towards the end of the year (Berkeley/new years runs). The only part of his performance then that i could say really moved me was his voice on ballads. There was a pain there, which made the songs beautiful, but his life had to have been hell. This is a good way to redeem yourself jerry. The rest of the boys musta been proud.
