Great first set but a decent second set. very short show for the 84 Red Rocks run. Later

I met a girl in Harrisburg that had attended this show, and learned about the breakout of Dear Mr Fantasy. I was psyched to hear it because I was also a big Traffic fan at the time. She said after PitB it sounded like they were doing the common segue into China Doll, when Brent just started singing the first verse, and everyone else just jumped in. The amazing thing was, when I got the tape, I could totally hear exactly what she was talking about. They'd obviously rehearsed this before, because Garcia joins in the vocals and despite some hesitation, it's a solid version. FWIW... the Shakedown and PitB are both pretty hot, and the jam out of space into the reprise is nicely done. A solid second set...

Take you pick of the most hoarse voice in the show, Bobby or Jerry. Jerry's axe is still consumate in Minglewood, BE Woman and Jack Straw. Short Shakedown, standard Playin' and Mr. Fantasy is worth a listen for the novelty but certainly not for the sound quality, wimpers out into Drumz.
Jerry for the most part is absent for 2nd set. Night prior much better.
