Awesome trip and a great venue. Phil opened the show with Stranger wearing long white a lab coat. Bobby sang it but Phil dominated with vocals and his bass. My other memry was China cat and Jerry just having a really good night, he appeared to be having great time. The masses had to navigate a old railroad bridge to get on and off the island the venue was located on.

My first Dead show. A fantastic Trip up the PA turnpike turned into a life long love. Thanks for dragging me, Dave. Oh, and they sure did play Miracle. One of the few things I remember.

Unique GD show! Island, foot bridge already mentioned. Beautiful day!! Couldn't ask for a better one. My 3rd summer of GD touring; did everything but Saratoga. Lots of great experiences summer '83 incl. THIS SHOW!

The band started during daylight and this was my first show really close; lawn GA, but similar to 6th row. Lots of great stuff, but the biggest thing I recall is the first set was really pared down with stage equipment. Also the band looked out to the crowd and I think they were thinking >> strange venue that slowly filled. By the end of first set, the party came alive and during set break, the crew brought out more equipment.

Every song was played well enough. Great Stranger opener! Second set sparkled and before Bucket mention is made about nuclear containment. Playin' > Drums > Spanish jam was special. I did not realize the boys had not played Miracle in a while. Stella > GDTRFB > NFA was pretty hot with Brokedown encore!!!

I noticed fans were pleased and satisfied leaving the show. GD played one more show at City Island in '84.

Awesome!

My friend had a really heavy trip, we got ours on the bridge and they were stronggggg.

The playin>space was the highlight for me we tripped out hard under the trees.

Great Stranger!!

Hey Joe O'Neill - I believe your recollection of this show is suspect:

"Bobby sang it but Phil dominated with vocals and his bass."

Phil Lesh did not sing into a microphone (onstage) from late 1973 until November 1984

We had a little dog named Boinky at the show. Show was Great as it always was.
