Funny how all the comments are about the first show. It was my first show, too. I'd already been into the Dead for a few years. I really regret I never saw the previous incarnation, before Keith died. I could have, I just didn't make it a priority. You never know (though everyone tells you) how important it is to see them live until... I was already a musician as well, and I remember being really impressed at one point in Jack Straw, when the whole band pounded on their instruments. (cut his buddy down..boom!) I realized that their instruments were very loud, but they were playing them relatively quietly. When they all let loose at once, it was a revelation!

This is one of the all-time powerhouse Jack Straws!!!
-Peace Pipe (08/16/2023)

Right on Peace Pipe, the tape really doesn't do it justice....close but you had to be there for this one. Phil just went off with those bass bombs, it was thunderous. My friend sat in the nosebleeds, and he said the concrete wall behind him vibrated so much that he thought the wall would crumble. My all-time favorite Jack Straw that I saw live after 218 shows...give or take 1/2 dozen
