Comments:

My first show, never forget it even though I fell asleep during the second set. I do, however, remember them opening up with Mississippi Half-Step. Sixteen years later I saw The Dead at Knickerbocker stadium and they opened with Mississippi Half-Step. Over the course of 16 years and around 50 different shows, those were the only two times I saw The Dead play Mississippi Half-Step. At the time I did not know how much longer the boys would be together, but I deemed it a full circle and called it my last show.

somethin' special was going on in Providence on 5/14/78...every song is performed beautifully...among the highlights are the sweet half step opener...a MONSTER let it grow to close out the first set and a wonderful nfa>gdtrfb>around2 to close things out with style!!

My first show too, it was a couple days after my 18th birthday and I almost fell asleep for a bit during the second set as well! (too much beer and not enough weed, lol) Eyes of the World was the song the stuck out the most for me until I got a heard the rest of the show on tape

Will be officially released on 30 Trips Around The Sun Box (SEPT 2015)
-M C (06/10/2015)

Yes, indeed this 1st set is VERY strong : notably a "Miss 1/2 Step", "LL Rain" and a notoriously excellent "Let it Grow" ... open, desirous ... and 15-16 minutes long (but it ain't the length that makes the quality).

PS : ... jumped directly to a wicked NFA > Going Down the Road !
- (05/08/2016)

... You often hear throughout a werewolved "howl" from Garcia after some lyrics ... fun remains from Springfield !

... shit : Going Down The Road ! SWEET ! previously played some 7 months prior and ONLY 7 times in this year of 1978.
