how the lads could keep putting out one classic show after another in may of '77 is beyond me...savor this one and play it loud...a MONSTER sugaree...sweet LLR...beautiful peggy O and smokin' music never stopped make the first set special...the second set is ON FIRE from start to finish...5/5/77 is a keeper guys and gals...grab a copy...TODAY!!

The best Sugaree ever! Jerry smokes on this. Even better than 5/19/77 which is not too shabby itself.
-b.

this was the first show i ever saw
-

THIS WAS MY FIRST DEAD SHOW WAY BACK WHEN AND ALTHOUGH I WAS JUST GETTING INTO THEIR MUSIC AND DID'T EVEN RECOGNIZE SOME OF THE SONGS IT WAS THE LAUNCHING PAD FOR THE NEXT 30 YEARS!
-

Before Sugaree-Bobby "...sorry about that, the plane went the wrong way"

May 77 northeast shows...can't be topped
-Perrin

The Peggy-O is mighty fine folks, check 'er out. Jerry's voice is so soft while the boys play in perfect unison.

the new haven coliseum was imploded a few years back because it was old an cost to much money to repair, here is a video of them imploding it if anyone is interested. the dead played some great shows here. it was sad to see it go.

the real deal folks. Get this one at nugs.net for the great second set and the 18 minnute sugaree--maybe the best ever, certainly in the top 5 (5-19-77 is hard to beat imho, amzing how in the zone they were in may 77!)

can anyone help me get a copy of this show?
- (07/27/2011)

I remember racing across western RI and eastern CT to get there in time for this one. We got inside during the first verse of Promised Land. The best show of any kind I have ever seen, period.

first show and what an impression on a group of 15 year olds,we wandered down the center aisle to about the 20th row and loved the older deadheads swaying with hands clapping overhead standing on their seats, boy was i hooked!

-Bookkeeper (02/19/2019)

Best Stephen of the year, has a kind of NFA jam to it, great stuff.
-Snow the Jam Man (10/17/2020)

Sitting here listening to this mellow gem. This is one of the best Sugaree's of all time. The Betty boards just a little better than Mr Miller's sdb but just a notch. The previous night in NYC and of course the Trinity coming up out shadow this show but Jerry's tone during Scarlet-Fire is outstanding and Bobby and Keith playing is really clear and gorgeous plus Phil a little less thick and muddy than previous recordings. This is arguably the best month of many for my favorite band. I will be listening a bunch over the next month for sure. I really love 5/12 and Chicago as well plus both nights in Florida,The Fox,then The Mosque, MD and CT wow what a band! NFA 65-95!!!
