My First Dead show! What a blast. 3 sets, fireworks during Casey Jones and during the first intermission, it ended about one am.

I somehow managed to find my way to the very first "row", crammed like a sardine directly in front of Jerry. Highlights for me were Casey Jones to end the first set, Playing in the Band, which just exploded, to open the second set, and Dark Star --> Comes A Time which was the first time I ever heard that tune. When Bobby announced that they were coming back for a third set, I thought I died and went to heaven.

My very 1st of 9 total GD shows - my now dearly departed Dead Head friend Raymond convinced me I should accompany him (he'd been to many previous in the NYC area). Certainly a stellar introduction to the GD experience. Good seats, very clear view of the band. Three very generous sets with fireworks!

I was informed by Raymond that we were in for a very special treat when the opening guitar/bass figure "Dark Star" was played. No shit, that was some crazy assed free form.

Made me a fan for life.

I will never forget the vibe of this show. The evening air was perfect with no humidity. I remember seeing Weir smoking between songs and blowing perfect smoke rings. Every song was played to the max with the boys looking and acting like the cosmic cowboys. The songs were still playing in our heads on the way home. Nobody dared to turn on the car radio!

Never understand why people were clapping in time with the band ruining audience copies to hundreds of shows. Clap clap clap what are we in a little kids show.
