Comments:

A bunch of us in San Francisco heard about this show..which came after the Dead had been out on tour for a long time, so we drove up there.

As I recall there weren't MANY people there.. I'd say no more than 1500. The venue was a large fairgrounds auditorium like you'd expect; with a HIGH ceiling, bleachers and plenty of echo.

It was not warm, I remember that. Not freezing, but not warm.

Between sets, Phil was yakkin' with somebody up in the grand stands and I walked up and asked him if he'd ever used Ginsing Root. He replied thus: "You mean as speed?" .... I don't recall the balance of the conversation, but it was short. I probably blurted out something about
Ginsing as a psychic energizer, or something equally lame.

Contrary to some speculation, the Dead did not do two nights there. It was a one-off gig. Not their greatest, but we dug it.

I was at this gig too. As I recall the band played very well but the sound was bad.
