Comments:

A good "shoe" on many fronts. Pigpen bookending the show w/Good Lovin' and Alligator. Some songs nearing their end (The Eleven, Midnight Hour-raps it early, Mason's Children) while others still workin' out the kinks (New Speedway 4/53 times, Cumberland in 2nd month, UJB's 9/330 with 7 performances in Dec69 alone) Check out the Jerry licks at the onset of Me & My Uncle. That style lasts up until the Portchester 71 shows.

While this is the middle part of the 3 show run, it is good to see how the boys spread it all around w/heavy trippy stuff ending each set.

As 1969 came to a close and with it the end of the improbable "peace & love" half-decade, the band was also about to enter a new phase. Inside of a year there would be two fewer members, and three albums released - arguable the best 3 successive releases among the 12 through terrapin - bear's choice & steal your face excluded - for reasons of compilation & redundancy, respectively. Tighter song construction, a leaner sound that nevertheless lent itself to new exploratory levels and a more harmonic vocal sense ushered in what some refer to as the "cosmic cowboy" period, 1970 - 1973/4.
