Comments:

Multi-band bill. Included Iron Butterfly, Al Kooper, Sly and the Family Stone (stole the night). Steppenwolf headlined. Stage was in center and rotated. Dead used own PA in think so wouldn't let it rotate. Place wasn't full so they encourage those sitting behind to come around. We didn't. First Dead show for me, no big impression (I was 12 years old) . Except that they were freaky and weird and that was alluring. Shows in 72 and 73 were transcendental: made me a Deadhead for life.

All I can remember is that I was there. Weird night in many ways. I don't think anyone on the bill played very well except Sly. I was there to see the Dead as I'd seen them in May.
