This one kicked off a string of shows I saw that summer. Don't remember much of the show, but I remember we had a camp site in Kentucky at the Big Bone Lick state park. To funny.

This was my fourth show but the first one where I "got it". After a day when everything went wrong leading up to the show, it was the right combination of a great seat, great sound, great show and perfect level of psychedelic mind alteration.

After 2 shows at Alpine the previous two nights, my car broke down about 90 minutes from the venue. Luckily it was a caravan situation so just left it and got in other car. But what do you think was left in the car? Of course the TICKET! Again luckily found a ticket for face value, best seat I had ever had at that point and everything fell into place. I don't know when but there was a moment in that first set where it clicked and in that split second, I was on the bus for life. Maybe it was "flight of the seabirds" coming out of the spacy Cassidy jam. I got so lost in that jam and then boom! Oh yeah this was in the middle of a song. Whoa this band really is different than anything I'd ever experienced. And just getting to watch Jerry and his magic fingers up close was such a revelation. I know the lyric in Mighty Quinn is "everybody's gonna want to doze" but it sure sounds like J sings "dose" when you are at the conclusion of the best dose experience of your life. Come all without, come all within indeed!
