Comments:

Twenty years of shows and these two Meriwether shows were the best I ever saw. The best SPACE ever. The saucers landed. You can hear it on the tape.

These were the last Meriwether shows because the Deadheads invaded the weird planned community of Columbia and set up tents everywhere like they owned the joint. When the powers that be woke up on Sunday morning and saw that Woodstock had sprung up overnight all over their nice little Malltown they freaked and disinvited the band from any future stops. At the time, I thought it was way cool when I strolled in to the out of control scene but by the time I was stony stumblin' out I knew it was trouble. Too bad. Great venue.

These two are a great snapshot of the summer tour. You could walk up and buy tickets. Great show overshadowed by the previous night but a good one nonetheless. Happy anniversary!

Another great show you hear virtually nothing about. Night 1 is more rocked out and somewhat looser. Night 2 is more of the composed professional show the GD could pull off with outstanding play and innovation. Other examples include 4-14-84 and 3-26-87. Just my viewpoint. With GD shows there are many that almost defy classification other than its rock and roll. Outstanding Fire On The Mountain with its chiseled finish. Very interesting setlists Summer 85.
