A solid show all the way through. I like this show for the Brent factor, he is really on the whole show. The "best" AUD that is out there for this show really captures this well.

I would give this show a 5 out of 5.

Interesting series of New Year run shows and consistent with 1983 as a whole. I had fun at these shows with the first and third nights being the "hottest". I thought comment on this little show.

The theme of 12/28/83 was 1) Weir equipment problems > drum issues, 2) liberal use of overdrive (Minglewood) and 3) a mid-tempo performance until O1 and Around n' Around.

At several times, Weir was fussing with his equipment especially during PITB. Nevertheless, PITB is a slow burner, moody force on 12/28 clocking in just shy of 17 minutes.

Other highlights include Bird Song, The Wheel (fabulous), a barn-burner O1 and Stella Blue. The end of Stella is lovely and intense, but a jarringly loud intro to Around kinda/almost ruins the "natural" resolve of Stella.

One final note: Jerry sounds pretty good vocally and on guitar. Shocking for '83, I know. Jerry, Phil and Brent lay it down while Bob intermittently deals with his equipment.

Anyway, a fun and different night with the GD ---> check out PITB through Stella. Just re-listened to this show today.
