this is the best grateful dead show in the history of grateful dead shows

Rolling into town, I remember being so surprised at seeing downtown Lake Placid taken over by hippies and I was completely delighted to see that the Greatful Dead were playing at the Olympic Center. They still had tickets at the box office. Above the first tier of seats, there was a hallway open to the main hall that ran in a circle around the entire building. People made a ring holding hands and dancing and going around and around all the while grooving on the band and the heads. It was a great show.

the sugaree is about 15 minutes long...ive heard because they boys were late coming onstage...an apologee?

"Something" was going down that evening that elevated all of us, including the band, to that experience that is beyond words. It is no coincidence that Jerry played all the songs from his "White Album" except for "Loser" -- there were no losers that evening. When Jerry dropped "To Lay Me Down" on our heads as the third song of the second set one could literally see hundreds of Deadheads experiencing epiphanies simultaneously. The "Revolution" encore can be interpreted on many levels after the experience the boys laid on us that evening.

What a great place, in Lake Placid, for the 20th time of HELL IN A BUCKET.

A friend and I drove up from Saratoga. NY state police had a road block on the Thruway and were pulling over anyone in tie-dye. Got into town and hit a bar. Drinking a cold one with Sugaree playing in the background. A little foreshadowing for the Suagree opener. Great show and a great time.

I
Rooster-might fine slide.

II

We drove from South Bend, IN to see show.
During break there was some kind of spontaneous audience drumming thing that began under the bleachers, which the band then picked up on.

What an experience, Jerry on Olympic Ice.
The town was over run with Dead Heads, yet people were laying extra tickets on the ground at the entrance. You got to here that Sugaree. Never heard the boys play it with so much energy. I think they thought they whereplaying the Russians

One of the most memorable shows I saw. On the way up on the Northway, the cops were pulling over every single deadhead car and searching. Suffice to say we thought we were completely screwed, until the guys in front of us, after being searched and *not* getting caught with anything, started photographing the cop questioning us. The cop was smart enough to realize that they were profiling, violating etc. so when he saw the camera he let us go. Thank you, whoever you are, for having a camera (no cell phones then!) and using it to save our asses. I would love to see those photos and treat you to a Further show! The other distinct memory from this show are the huge open spaces in each corner of the venue that were of course used as dance floors. 4 swirling, jumping, screaming and loving masses that one cannot describe if you were not there. Absolute pandemonium.

This was the best i was ever at. It was just something special. Me and a few college buddies made the short commute from from Potsdam NY. A cold-country Dead concert, practically in our back yard. It was tooo special.

Sugaree is what this one is known for, and to be sure it's excellent, but get this one for Deal, which surges in and out of some of the most intense moments they ever conjured on this song. The band knew it, too: listen to how enthusiastically they sing that last chorus!

Second set smokes

Awesome show in a great setting. Peak Autumn for the Adirondacks and the boys didn't disappoint. During "The Wheel" there was three circles of deadheads holding hands and encircling the Olympic Center moving in opposite ways (clockwise, counterclockwise, and clockwise).
-Wharf Rat (11/09/2014)

Had followed them that summer from Maryweather Post to SPAC. Was a student at Pauls Smith's and was not going to miss this one..Lake Placid turned into San Francisco for a night.Best show I have ever seen. I heard they were banned from ever playing there again, townsfolk were too freaked out

Rumor has it the boys dropped the window pane that night
