Comments:

The Scarlet->Fire on the second set blew my mind...one of my favortites. This whole set just rocks, esp. the nice, slow, juicy ship of fools and wheel. Great set.

UNBELIEVABLE Ship of Fools in the middle of an outstanding show!!
-

The second set was good enough to spawn an underground brotherhood at a small New Hampshire bording school...whatever that's worth. Best Scar-Fire ever.
-

this scarlet fire is the best ever. jerry doesn't want to let go of the scarlet and the jam is amazing going into fire. also the wheel into china doll is absolutely fabulous. i play this tape all the time and know every note. dicks picks please add it cause my tape is getting worn out. peace and love

Fox: Had to check out that Scar/fire after the piece in the New Yorker. You stand vindicated; it may not be the best ever of all time, but it certainly can be the best ever at some time. Love that you can hear the cymbals sizzle.

First electric China Doll in over a year and what a beautiful one. The Space jam before The Wheel and on into that fierce Around was just pure joy.

A good friend of mine hates China Doll, this version just adds to my confusion as to how anyone could hate China Doll. This show was great, i'm not gonna say it was up there with there greatest, but it was definitley a real fun listen.

Being released officially, Dave's Picks Vol. 8

After listening to the official release and also having read the New Yorker piece all I have to say is believe the hype. The Scarlet>Fire is a must listen. The whole show is a monster.

I was there. Hot show...but if you think this Scarlet/Fire is great...and it is...check out 4/11/78 here at the Fox. That's the best one I ever saw, well maybe 7/1/85...hell I don't know.

Rock on....

I'm trying to wrap my mind around someone who likes the Dead but hates China Doll. The idea that comes to mind is perhaps that person had a negative personal experience with suicide... Because I'm pretty sure that's what the song is about. Of course I know nothing and wouldn't presume but objectively, musically, notwithstanding it's subject matter, China Doll is simply a beautiful song
-Dr Filth (from Desolation Row) (11/30/2021)

Fist electric Bird song since 73.
