What’s with the shitty recordings in 1980?
-Kdead (10/18/2018)

The 2 Saenger shows were played between the West Coast acoustic/electric shows at the Warfield Theater and the East Coast acoustic/electric shows Radio City Music Hall. All of the recording gear was sent from San Francisco directly to NYC, so no official versions of these NOLA shows exist in the vault.

Should be noted that this show is the band's first performance in New Orleans or anywhere in Louisiana, for that matter, since January of 1970, at which time they were infamously busted in a targeted hotel raid.

While it's true that the 32-track live recording setup used at the Warfield and RCMH was not employed here, Healy would have recorded the shows to stereo cassette, as he did every night, and the soundboards are in distribution, and on the archive. (Soundboard cassette and 2-track reel-to-reel tapes are the source of the bulk of the official releases.)
