Comments:

The first set from this show was one of my very favorite cassettes back in the tape days. The Jack Straw opener fairly sparkles with energy and just melts into a raucous Franklin's Tower. El Paso is standard, but TN Jed seems a little livlier than usual. Lazy Lightin>Supplication blazes right along, Althea is sublime, and the Sailor>Saint finisher is truly an object lesson in tension/release. What a great set. I never had the second set on tape, so I can't comment on that. If they managed to keep up the torrid pace of the first set, it must have been amazing. Also, from what I understand, Mickey & Phil were arrested following this show for attempting to stop a cop from beating on a Head. What a band!

Always dug this show. Classic '80 energy in the first set. I definitely listen to set 1 more than set 2, but both are solid.

The story I heard was that it was Weir who was arrested after arguing with a policeman who was trying to arrest someone else for possession of coke. Bobby spent some time in the clink before making it over to Bill Walton's place.

The China Cat > Rider from this show has some nice mountain jam flavoring to it. Check it out, really great version.
