Ahh. My 1st Dead show...1st concert ever. I was 16 years old. Haven't seen the set list in ages. I just remember it was at MSG, Sept '79, and that "Shakedown" was the encore. Thanks guys for the resource!!!

Jack Straw-top notch Jerry noodling
Sugaree-Excellent ebb and flow
Me & My Uncle-funny Bobby banter
Big River-eloquent Brent, 73 Keithesque
Tenn Jed-Brent's voice is so clear
2nd set
China>Rider-Audience
LLRain-trippy sound for Bobby voice
He's Gone-boys harmonies are spot on
Whart Rat-nice slow progression with different "burgundy wine" line drawn out
Around-nice tempo change at end and great jazz jam
e: Shakedown-Phil bomb at the start

Early MSG show.

My first show -- at the tender age of 15 -- and I dropped for it too! I remember the thrill of hearing scarlet fire and china ryder live -- also the killer deal at end of set 1. But nothing seemed to top the killer lost saint which they played really well.

I have this dull recollection of them flubbing up the beginning of Jack Straw and doing an extremely rare start-over about 10 secs in -- a friend seems to remember this too but no one else does so maybe I'm mistaken ...
