Comments:

This was a great show. I'm surprised it doesn't get more attention. This attraction should be on Dick's Picks.

I remember this show vividly. It was their first time in Providence after Shakedown Street came out. The title cut was actually a disco hit in the city, so the audience was filled with guys with polyester shirts and blow dried hair, and big-haired girls in their Saturday night dresses, pointing and laughing at the "freaks." The band played a GREAT show, but the only thing they played from Shakedown Street was Minglewood, which had been part of their repertoire for decades. I remember watching a disco boy kick a chair around at the end of the show and shout "What kind of band goes on tour and doesn't play the hit from their latest album?" I think the rest of us knew the answer to that!

First show in a while that there was no Drums/Space interlude.

they played Heart of Me, Good Lovin and Miracle. All from the Shakedown Street album.

Was in RI for a few days on a business trip and happened to see the sign on the Civic Center that the Dead were going to play that evening. Did not have a ticket but went to the show anyway. Outside on the street, 2 ticket scalpers underbid each other to sell me a ticket. Got into the show for only $6.

This 7 minute deal has a nice long final refrain hitting 32 "dont ya let that deal go down" lines in a row.
The unusually high 8 "waits" prior may put this in the longest deal ending contender category, but 4-15-78 still holds the record at 36 in a row.
