The half>step roses here, in my opinion, defines this combo for me. 11/20/78 is also good, but the energy in this version...wow. One of those absolutely perfect Dead moments. Listen to the interplay between Keith and Jerry in the last third of Franklins...the quiet jam...it just sparkles.

whoops, I meant half step>franklins.

also the transition between the two is actually perfect, where it is botched in nearly every other version I have heard.

First Dead show! Great show to get on the bus. Was working with some hippies at a record store and we bought out a section for ourselves. Great venue.

Thank you DSO for playing this show tonight in Pompano Beach. Absolute barn burner!

When I hear Eyes of the World, I often wonder if Hunter was inspired by the Beach Boys' That's Not Me off my personal all-time favorite album, Pet Sounds (1966). Maybe as a concept or a song title. The lyric goes like this.

I could try to be big in the eyes of the world
What matters to me is what I could be to just one girl.

Great song, greater album. Long live Brian Wilson.
