Comments:

I believe that this is the setlist for the show that I have been looking for ever since it was lent to me in 1995. This set is made of songs with a similarity in names:
m blues
rr blues
cc sunflower
ll rain
ll
box of rain
rjr
which is how I remembered for all time, the double letter set.
The set of seven songs, box of rain through row jimmy row, is an amazing 30 minutes or so of some of the best, quiet and fervent playing by the band of that entire year (best of february, I think)

a winter nite in Lincoln during feb. '73
not much happening? head over to the dead show then! alot happened there!!
very nice rockin' show...nothing that will blow you away but solid from start to finish...the dead came to lincoln...they saw...they conquered and then no one noticed but the band was packed and gone...where they ever there at all???

Not much happening in Lincoln? Oh come on now...you could have gone into any bar and discussed Husker football.

Setlist has a few songs not in Deadbase or played on gdradio.net (Deal, Mexical, Box of Rain, China Cat, BIODTL, Row Jimmy and El Paso) are from some other show.
II
Greatest-Donna flubs the lyrics.

Jerry gives us something extra in the middle of Jack Straw.

a fellow head needs your help. Is there anyone out there who downloaded this show off the archive in mp3 format before it was wrongly taken down? if there is anyone who can send me it i am willing to trade a few shows just for this one. i bought dicks picks 28 but its missing a good portion of the songs and this drives me nuts. im sure other people out there hear me on this. if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it, thanks

Just heard this one on xm and the Dark Star is the best Keith-era one I've heard. Phil & Keith are killin it - w Jerry & Billy taking it to another place. Bob kinda low in the mix...I love '73 and esp love Feb '73.
-Mark (06/27/2011)

@Perrin, just happened to listen to this today, it was Bob who flubs the lyrics during Greatest. She was singing the first chorus (correctly) but he was singing the 2nd.

Set 1

Promised Land - Sweeeet Rock N Roll opener.

Loser - The good stuff.

Jack Straw - Never gets old. To the point.

Don't Ease Me In - Always a great vibe w/this one.

China > Rider - Very good playing by all leading into the transition.

Loose Lucy - Such a fun tune. Great version.

Row Jimmy - '73 tempo goodness. Lawd almighty!

Big Railroad Blues - Supercharged. The energy makes up for a brief flub.

Playing In The Band - Ninja level picking courtesy of Jerome.

Set 2

They Love Each Other - Very nice.

Big River - Heck Yeah. 10 yee-haws!!!!!

Tennessee Jed - A slow gait. Very chill. Good vocals

Dark Star - Nice jazzy feeling morphs into subtle psychedelic jazzy feeling down the home stretch. Bleeds into Eyes.

Eyes of the World - Relaxed jamming. Phil is springy throughout. It's like Bill is playing the ride cymbal while kicked back in a lazy-boy. Very clean 2nd jam.

1/2 Step - Excellent.... especially the vocals at the end.

Me and My Uncle - Always fun & everybody knows it.

Not Fade Away - Beautiful playing.

Going Down The Road Feelin Bad - Bill plays in 1/2 time.

Not Fade Away - Bob Scream.

Of the 25 songs played the 20 above I would download and spin again.

20 of 25 is a grade of 80%

Cheers !

Dick Latvala's thoughts, from 1997:

I am not in the "fold" of those that
place a whole lot of value on this show. I do believe some of the
best versions I've ever heard of "Tennessee Jed" and "Greatest
Story Ever Told" occur here though. The "Eyes of the World" is
definitely one of the major highlights of a show that I would not
think of in the first group of 10-15 shows from 1973.

On 5/13/21, I saw Crazy Fingers Band out of Boynton Beach, FL perform this show in its entirety. They only announced halfway through the first set that they were recreating this show. What a fun night!
-Grateful Dan (11/09/2021)

I wonder why this show was chosen for a Dick's Picks if Dick was so lukewarm on it?
-hedge (03/24/2023)

Not a big Tennessee Jed fan but this second set slot is nice.
