Is that a steel pedal on He's Gone? Sounds so lovely. The Other One sets controls for the heart of your cerebrum.

The Truckin' outro/Jam is a Phil biscuit fest! Please don't pass up this opportunity!

What a beast of a show! I'm becoming more and more convinced that the argument regarding 'GD best year' can't be made more strongly for any other year other than 73, I mean the only other way that I can make sense of it is saying 74, but the only song that potentially has 'monumental' jams is Scarlet, BUT they took Here Comes Sunshine away in 74, minus one version (2/24). I guess it doesn't matter anyway because we're still talking about the same band, and I'm just gonna continue with going with what Dick Latvala said "There's magic in every year of The Grateful Dead"...Anyways this Eyes has something very unique being only the 3rd version, it's just magical...

Truckin' - The whole band is boogying. Great work by Phil on the back 9.

The Other One - Great version. Groovy Phil & Bill for a stretch until full band jamming resumes. Why I love early/mid 70's Dead. BILL!!!!! Sweet segue into Eyes.

Eyes of the World - Wonderful jam. Falls into 72ish space before a brief second jam. Reminiscent of the space found in '72 Truckin's.

China Doll - the finest one yet (of 4).Gorgeous phrasing from Bob and Keith.

Sugar Magnolia - Barnburner

Casey Jones - 5 energetic stars !

I would download it all and spin it again and again

7 of 7 is a grade of 100%

5 Star Set. A must Listen !!!!!!

Cheers !

This excerpt has been released by Dave on Tapers Section., Here is what Dick had to say about this show, back in 1997:

I have only found a cassette of Bear's that had
a very stunning, if not shocking, jam that goes: He's Gone->
Truckin'->jam->The Other One-> Eyes of the World-> China
Doll that simply has to be heard to be understood how good things
can get!!!

This is the best other one ive ever heard

He’s Gone> Truckin’> *Bass Jam> Drums> Other One included (42 mins worth) in 30 Days of Dead 2019.

Check out the Truckin’ outro jam; they medley tease what’s to come… Other One, Eyes…

This is fantastic early ‘73, complete with a missed-cue start to Truckin’ “Sometimes I can barely see.”
