Many have commented on the "end" of the primal Dead period, which let's say for argumwnt's sake was after production of Live Dead in '69. TC would soon be gone, the Band's bust & burn was in the near future as was Mickey's departure. Woodstock was over, Altamont would kill the vibe and surely "something" was ending, perhaps innocence. Nonetheless, the widening of the Band's scope emergent with Workingman's Dead marked the beginning of a decade of the Band at its height, an altitude never matched by any american band before or since,
