Comments:

As usual, people have the two sets fro these two nights in the wrong sequence-
The second half of this show (with the Going Down the Road) is correct- it happened on this day.
The FIRST set as you have noted it here, actually is the FIRST SET of the SECOND NIGHT. And I think if you go to the second night, you have listed the FIRST SET from the FIRST NIGHT as the first set of night 2.
Night one began with Bertha. I was there, and not withstanding the "liquid refreshments" offered after the NRPS set, I have a vivid memory of the set list. Playing in the Band also was performed this night, as was Deal, Good Lovin, a first set Sugar Magnolia, and also the first Wharf Rat I ever heard.
Someone really ought to take all listers to task- they have had these two nights out of set sequence since before time began. That's not gonna keep me from complainin about it though, since this was my first show.

Promised-1st of 429 times played.

I am with Anonymous BIG TIME on this one, since it was my fist show too, and yeh, despite the liquid refreshments, some of us passed the test that night. Apparently tho whoever wrote up these set lists did not! Bertha was the first song (listed as the first on the second night) and laying in the Band was new on a lot of us, too. So was Wharf Rat. And Jerry did NOT play pedal steel, as the excuse was he was sick, with the New Riders- it was just the four other guys.

And hey, Anonymous, I bet you thought you were all alone all these years, huh?

Is anyone sure this is actually the first ever 'Promised Land' played live? The 1966 Rarities Double LP has a recording of a "rehearsal" at an unknown date/location of this song. Granted, it's apparently only a rehearsal, but that typically indicates a tune's in a rotation. The performance seems pretty well-rehearsed for just a warmup tune. If it was being played, it'd mean the tune could've appeared as much as five years prior to this occurrence.

I think it's prob accurate
I've never heard one from the 60's shows
