Great show. First Cosmic Charlie!

i believe this is the infamous santa barbara show (mcnally refers to it in his book) in which the promoters and house wouldnt let the dead use their own equipment, which resulted in the band not being able to hear eachother. it culminated in garcia saying "sorry, we're gonna split for awhile and set up our own P.A. so we can hear what the f**k is happening."

bear wasnt around (lenny hart had just taken over), they couldnt get their equipment set up, and garcia wanted to give the money back to the audience. he thought the show was awful, and while pig said "who cares, i can fake it," garcia's response was "well i cant."

anyway, it would be interesting to see whats on the tapes, but the band thought this show was a mess.

Jake, your right, the boys sounded confused and Pigpen voice was half asleep in Lovelight. Goodset list, a shame.

Other One comes out of the woods like a freaking pack of tigers after you've been lulled into a trance by the distracting cobra of cryptical. Just when you thought you were through the roller coaster that came before. Beautiful.

The Other One is ferocious!! Just blistering. Cosmic Charlie is a real mess, they keep repeating the intro over and over, seems like Garcia can’t get it together to begin the verses. Bobby jumps in early and sings part of the first verse alone. Weird show

"Other One comes out of the woods like a freaking pack of tigers"

Tigers don't travel in packs, they are solitary creatures...
