First mountains I think.

I saw this show too. They had the harpsichord and everything for Mountains of the Moon. I'm pretty sure they played Morning Dew with the gong adding to the opening flourish. The Dead in those days, it was before the skull and roses era but, when they took the stage all the tie dyed, granny dress wearing Hippies would make their way to the front of the stage. Sometimes a Conga line would form! One night at the Shrine Expo, they actually lit up several joints, took a few hits and sent Billy Kreutzmann to the edge of the stage to hand the shorts to us. They were like a bunch of old friends that you didn't see all that often but, when you did, it was great fun. I used to feel overpowered by life back then but, after seeing the Grateful Dead, I knew it would be OK.
