Is it true that Magoo's Pizza Parlor was located where Kepler's Bookstore in Menlo currently is?
-

I know someone who saw them play at Magoo's. The next time I see her I'll ask her for details.

It's been years since we last talked about it. I think she said the band was friendly and the pizza was good.

Not sure about the pizza parlor question, because Keplar's was founded in 1955, that is a place the Dead have played.

I live in melno park and work at 641 Santa Cruz Ave., there. My old friend who was brought up here told me this was the Original Magoos spot. Its now a French Restaurant.

Hey, here was the set list best I can remember from Magoos. I was there buying a pepperoni 🍕 pizza and a chocolate malt. I was just about to take a bite of pizza when the band came out to play. Here was the setlist:

Set 1
I’m a Hog >
Smokestack Lightning >
I’m a Hog
Pizza Jam (<—the band had pizza onstage while they jammed. Pigpen cut the pie and handed out napkins to everyone).
Friend of the Devil
Looks Like Rain
Franklins Tower > Pizza Jam (reprise)

Set 2:
Jack-a-Roe
New Potato Caboose >
Drums > (Billy had just one snare drum and cymbal)
Space > (again, the band had to have pizza while they noodled)
Not Fade Away >
Johnny B. Goode >
El Paso >
I Fought the Law

E: Deep Elem Blues >
Viola Lee Blues (40 minutes long, again with pizza. The entire audience - 4 people or so - got to have pizza with the band while they played. Pigpen again served everyone. My pizza was pepperoni and pepperoncinis).

Man, those were great days!

Setlist looks about right but they ended with Set 2 with Day Job. Second time ever played.
